Deterrence

By Joram Roukes, 2012

“Mourning” by Joram Roukes (2012)

Surrender to the whirlwind,

Surrender to the yearning.

Put it all together now,

Smile while it’s burning.

This is my smoke,

I will breathe it till I choke,

Remember all the ventures now,

See them as they float.

A prisoner becomes he,

Who knocks on a prison’s door.

Once you’re in, you can’t get out,

Intentions entice me to implore.

I will never kneel before commandments,

That I can easily disapprove.

Sacrifice all senseless sentiments,

Deterrence demands me to move.
